Need For The Airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport, is the second airport for Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Enhancement of aviation facilities in the MMR is critical for maintaining Maharashtra’s leadership in attracting Foreign Direct Investment and cementing Mumbai’s future as an International Financial Centre, as per annum air passenger number is expected to grow over 100 million by 2034.The Mumbai airport alone will be unable to handle such an increase in demand due to landside constraints for expansion It is therefore imperative to build a second Airport for MMR.
