Need For Metro Rail

With each passing day and with each fleeting moment population in Navi Mumbai is growing resulting in to increase in road traffic. With the enhanced buying capacity the number of private vehicles in Navi Mumbai have increased substantially over the past few years. Metro Rail has come up as the efficient commuter transport other than the existing Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) to control road vehicles. 

CIDCO has planned Navi Mumbai Metro Rail as an elevated corridor. The land to be utilised for it is not privately used, it is the CIDCO land. Metro Rail will enhance city’s economic growth and take off the burden on the road transport infrastructure as a result of the influx of population in coming years. The Panvel/Nerul–Seawoods–Uran railway line, Mumbai Trans-harbour Link (MTHL) connecting Navi Mumbai and Greater Mumbai will make commuting between the two cities easier besides giving a new identity to Navi Mumbai.
