Public Health Department

Public Health Department was established in 1977 to provide civic services including sanitation services to the residents. After the self-local government body of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation was formed with elected representatives, civic services, including sanitation were handed over to the civic body in phased manner.

The department is headed by Chief Health Officer, who is assisted by Sanitary Inspectors. This department has been carrying out Public Health activities which are mainly of maintenance nature. For the Nodes of New Panvel Kalamboli, Kharghar & Dronagiri & Kamothe, the sanitation services are provided by this department.

In April 2003, a new cell, The Solid Waste Management cell was formed to handle the work of sanitation and garbage collection and disposal.

The following works are looked after by Chief Health Officer:

  • Malaria & Vector Control.

  • Allotment of plots for Hospitals.

  • Dog Sterilization.

  • Medical bill scrutiny, Medical Examination of CIDCO employees.

  • Sanitation work.

  • Garbage collection, transportation & disposal through the ghantagadi.

  • Issuing of Public Health NOC for occupancy certificate for building permission.

  • Controlling problem of Stray animals.
